To Blimp, Or Not To Blimp?
During the 2007/08 election cycle the Ron Paul grassroots community scrambled (in just one months time) to fund and fly the largest blimp in North America in the name of presidential candidate Ron Paul. The project was funded for six hundred thousand dollars, generated two million dollars in publicity and became a symbol of the Ron Paul Revolution.
Now it’s 2012 and Ron Paul is running for President again. We have another opportunity, should we choose to take it, to fly the Ron Paul Blimp.
This time, with proper planning, it may be possible for us to do a trade with national media at major sporting events. We mount a sky-cam on the blimp and feed the network an aerial view of their event and in exchange they point their cameras up at our blimp for the whole nation to see. Repeat as often as possible and we have the potential to reach tens of millions (or more) via television in addition to the hundreds of thousands who would see the blimp at the games.
